Alan Wells ex Owner of Downtown Music Message to Everyone who has supported Dtown over the years!!!!

I would like to thank all the past and present employees, anyone that has helped pick up a hammer or a paintbrush or built anything for the club, all touring and local bands that have played, all customers who have continued to support us, and anyone that has ever done anything to help Downtown Music. Without all of you, the club would have never made it this long. We started with very little money, not much equipment, a small hallway of a building, and we all figured the club would have been shutdown or bankrupt within the first year. It took time to build up our sound system and expand into the awesome venue we have now. We would have failed several years ago if you wouldnt have been there to keep the dream alive through the tough times were we only had two speakers, a small stage that could barely fit a band, and no liquor license.
.. ..
I started the club because I love .... Little Rock ... I love .... Arkansas.... Ive always hated hearing people say they hate it here or that the scene sucks and to hear them wish they lived somewhere better. I believe if you want something to be better, then you make it better. I felt like this town deserved a better venue, one where people could have a good time without being yelled at by rude employees, that would treat local bands with the respect they deserve for being the lifeblood of our music scene, and a venue that would bring in amazing out of town/touring bands that would change people's perception of music. And I have watched over the years as we have accomplished that. I have seen our music community grow and have watched the positive impact we have made on this town. We have given a home to several people that have felt outcast or out of place at the other bars in town, made several local bands good connections with national acts, exposed people to a new realm of music that has helped expand their minds and definitions of what music is, brought many new friends together, and have thrown some of the biggest parties and best shows this town has ever seen. I have great pride in what we have accomplished and all of you should feel that pride as well because it is your accomplishment too.
.. ..
I will always be there to help the club in anyway I can, but at this point in my life I must stand aside, simplify things, and let someone with a new spirit and dedication to music and the scene take over to ensure that the club will last for many more years to come. So as I step down from owning and running Downtown Music, I ask you to please continue to support the club and help promote its continued growth. No matter who runs it or owns it, it will still be your venue, your club, and your home.
